Testament Worcester Concert reviews
Great Show Overall and venue
OFFICIAL Concert Experience Blog for The Bay Area Strikes Back show in St. Louis. With Death Angel , Exodus and Testament and for everyone that asked me to tell them how it was... after this I may become one of those music YouTube bloggers who rate metal albums and shows lol. So let me know how I did with this post..horns up and cheers
Part 1 : The Venue
This was my first time to The Pageant in St. Louis, MO. The venue was about medium and overall fit damn near 2000 people pretty comfortably. Drink prices weren't too harsh on your wallet, if you know what to drink...plenty of standing area , and seats too.
As an avid concert attendee , It's definitely a place to see a good show and enjoy your experiences.
Part 2 : The Price
The ticket price with tax was 36 bucks. For a 3 Band line-up , and of this caliber... Definitely worth it and also shows these bands care more about the fan then the $$$$... You have other bands that are in the same cat. as these 3 , out their charging people anywhere from 150 to damn near almost a grand for a ticket to see them.
Part 3 : The bands
- Death Angel - This was my first time seeing Death Angel live ever. I have watched many live videos and listened to their music since the late 90s or so. They're raw energy and stage presence on their videos is most definitely NO JOKE! These guys were made for the stage... and even better one of the few bands left that have the kept just about the same line-up since their inception. Opening with their classic song "The Ultra Violence" saw a river of young and old metal heads coming together , and making the floor beneath rumble. This is definitely a live band not to miss. They way they connect with the fans below is just amazing.
- Exodus - Exodus was the main reason I got my ticket. I had always been a fan for many years of their music and the legendary rasp of Steve "Zetro"Souza fronting the ranks. When these guys took stage , it was like life went into slow motion for a brief second before I was pulled into a circle pit and thrown every direction possible... I am 40 years old, I have been in my share of pits ....I've never experienced anything like an Exodus pit though. This band , you watch their live videos from the early years and compare them to now....it's as though they haven't skipped a beat at all and if anything became even more...their performance lived up to their legend...Gary Holts guitar work was PRECISION ART in its rawest forms....no wonder Slayer asked him to cover Jeff Hannemanns spot in Slayer ...the man plays with a venomous and otherworldly nature. Whatever the case , It was Exodus that I believe owned and made this tour worth the ticket, the bruises and the attending on a work day (Thursday) where I have to be up the following morning to go back to my daily grinds. This was the band to see...
- Testament - Since 1998 I have been an avid Testament fan. I have every album from 1987s The Legacy to 2021's Titans of Creation. On record these guys are every bit , one of the driving forces of Thrash Metal Elite. I have seen Testament I believe 2x now and with this show marks 3. The first time I saw them was In Philadelphia. Unfortunately, they were having sound issues and made the experience a bit mediocre. Still overall, they worked with it and put on a good show. 2nd time, they absolutely killed it and I was able to meet Eric Peterson and original bassist Greg Christian. Chuck Billy had just beaten cancer and was like a beast risen from ashes onstage. This time wasn't so great sadly. While the rest of the band definitely had the fire , verocity and everything you'd need as the rhythm section, Chuck seemed very tired. Almost like he was just trying to make it through it for the fans. It just didn't hit me the way the last time did. Eric Peterson, Steve Digeorgio , Alex Skolnick and session drummer Chris Dovas kept the show alive, Chuck just didn't seem like he was really there. I ended up leaving after 6 songs in... They had a 16 song setlist... Not to mention MANY were chanting for Dave Lombardo at the start of their set , and when Dave wasn't there , you definitely saw a change in the crowd. After 3 songs Chuck finally told the fans Dave was out due a personal reason and would be returning later into the tour.
Finale' - 2 outta 3 ain't bad. EXODUS IS THE STAR OF THIS TOUR
